The invention of photography in 1839 transformed nude studies from sketches, drawings and paintings to every mans delight.

The Museum’s collection contains many examples of early photography and an extensive range of photographs of the Danish prostitute culture around the turn of the century. This photo shows a collotype from France ca. 1900 century

The Museum also has a collection of sex toys.The picture shows the first Real Doll, an American love doll for lonely gentlemen.

It is created by Matt McMullen, San Macros, California in 1996. Real Doll is manufactured with an articulated skeleton for anatomically correct positioning, and an exclusive blend of silicone rubber, to provide an ultra flesh feel. Each doll is made according to customer choice of skin colour, figure, breasts, hair colour, eyes, pubic hair and make-up.

Hollywood is the 20th Century’s ultimate fantasy world. Never before have so many talents enriched such large audiences. The stars were admired by the public in the darkness of the cinemas, and they became idols.

The first comprehensive book on the love lives of famous people. The Museum’s collection of famous people and their love lives, includes Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe, Aristotle Onassis and Marlene Dietrich. The photo shows Josephine Baker, 1905 – 1975.

The chastity belt originated in Asia and Africa, was probably brought to Europe by the crusaders, who’s wives were alone most of the time. The first time the chastity belt was mentioned, was in the 11th century and was brought to France in 1525.

Through time, the chastity belt has been used by Henrik II of France for his wife Katarina of Medicis and later by Louis XIII for Anne of Austria.

Spanking has been a part of human sexuality and dates back a long way. The famous, French writer, Marquis de Sade 1740 – 1814 wrote erotica stories and also gave name to the term sadism.

The Marquis spent 27 years of his life in 11 different prisons. The main essence of his work was writing about enjoyment of cruelty, torture and murder in the name of sexuality. The department of spanking has a collection of sex toys – and costumes and various of manuals about sexually submission of the opponent.

The Museum also gives the visitors an idea of the history of art in the 20th century inspired by eroticism.

The exhibition shows the famous Danish artist Hans Henrik Lerfeldt 1946 – 1981, the only Danish artist to be inspired by Pin up and paint-box pornography. The Photo shows one of Amorous pictures from the 19th century.

The Male gay contains everything from sketches from the famous cartoonist Tom of Finland, to photos by the photographer Robert Mapplethotrpe.
